EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon football has provided an update on quarterback Dante Moore following the scary injury he suffered during Saturday night’s 41–27 victory over USC.
The Ducks announced Sunday that Moore sustained a concussion, but his MRI and CT scans came back clean, and he did not suffer any additional injuries.
“Dante sustained a concussion in last night’s game but fortunately his MRI and CT scans came back clean and he did not suffer any additional injuries,” Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said in a statement.
Lanning added that the Ducks will take a cautious approach with Moore’s recovery.
“Every concussion is different and we are going to move forward with an abundance of caution to ensure we make the best decisions for Dante and his future.”
Oregon also expressed appreciation for the medical personnel who treated Moore following the hit, including the Ducks’ medical staff, USC’s medical staff and the staff at L.A. General County Hospital.
Moore was injured in the second quarter after taking a hit from USC linebacker Desman Stephens II while attempting to slide on a scramble. Stephens was ejected for targeting.
USC later announced that Stephens would be suspended for one game following the hit and his reaction afterward.
Moore completed 8 of 10 passes for 77 yards before leaving the game.
Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola stepped in and helped Oregon finish the victory, completing 19 of 25 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns.
Oregon has a bye next weekend before returning to action against UCLA on Oct. 10.
